Challenge
Many students who have a learning disability are forced to work at a low level on Bloom's Taxonomy. Many of these students are given less choice in their day. Why do educators focus on this level of learning with this subgroup? These students have many talents, yet we focus on their weakness and basic recall. Teachers by nature ask four different types of questions. 1.Managerial- to keep the class moving 2. Rhetorical- to highlight a concept 3. Closed- to focus in on a concept 4. Open- to promote discussion. 60% of questions are recall of facts (University of Nebraska-Lincoln). Teachers by nature ask lower level questions. How do we get them out of this habit and help them get into high levels of Bloom's Taxonomy?
